A 59-year-old man was playing dominoes outside an apartment complex when he was shot by a stranger, Texas police said.

The person approached the man during the Oct. 8 game, and the two “exchanged words,” according to Houston police.

Then, the stranger “suddenly” pulled out a gun and shot the man, according to police.

Police said paramedics found the man unresponsive on the ground when they arrived and pronounced him dead.

The victim was identified as Harry Boone Jr. by his niece, according to KHOU.

“He was like my best friend,” Laquietta Boone told KHOU. “My uncle should still be here right now. We didn’t expect this, it is still shocking.”

Police are still searching for the suspected shooter, a man in his 20s, officers said. He fled the scene after the shooting, police said.
