An Indiana woman out picking fruit was attacked with paint and shot at by her boyfriend during a domestic dispute, authorities said.

The woman told investigators she was in Raglesville picking persimmons when her boyfriend showed up and a fight broke out, according to a Sept. 26 news release from Indiana State Police.

The 43-year-old Odon man used his vehicle to block hers, preventing her from leaving, authorities said. McClatchy News is not naming the man to protect the identity of the victim.

During a “struggle,” the man sprayed her with spray paint, then grabbed a gun from his car and “shot a round into her vehicle next to where she was standing” before fleeing the scene, troopers said.

Officers found a can of spray paint and a shell casing at the scene, as well as a bullet in the engine compartment of the woman’s vehicle, police said.

Deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office found the man in the woods near Crane a short time later and arrested him on charges of criminal confinement, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, pointing a loaded firearm, obstruction of justice, domestic battery and criminal mischief, state police said.

He is being held in Daviess County Jail on bond, authorities said.

Raglesville is about a 100-mile drive southwest from Indianapolis.
