A fortunate player turned a $1 ticket into a life-changing win in North Carolina, lottery officials said.

With the lucky numbers of 6, 8, 21, 30 and 43, the player won a Cash 5 jackpot on Sept. 9, according to North Carolina lottery officials.

The jackpot was estimated to be $195,000 at the time of draw, but after five matches, the player ended up with a grand prize of $198,217, lottery officials announced in a statement.

The winning ticket was sold at a food market in Pineville, about a 15-mile drive south of Charlotte.

According to the Cash 5 rules, the odds of winning the jackpot are nearly one in a million.

As of Sept. 11, the prize remains unclaimed, lottery officials said.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
