A man being questioned about a burglary made matters worse when he complained his meth was “bad” and asked a deputy to test it, according to Florida investigators.

The request was granted, but the outcome was likely not what he expected.

Not only was the 34-year-old charged with burglary, but possession of a controlled substance was added to the list, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a Sept. 5 news release.

The arrest happened Tuesday, Aug. 27, after a victim flagged down a deputy to report someone broke into his home in the Paisley area, about a 50-mile drive northwest from Orlando.

A suspect description fit a 34-year-old man who was not far away, and he curiously greeted deputies with a question.

“The defendant spontaneously uttered that he just received some ‘bad’ narcotics and produced a plastic baggie containing a clear crystal-like substance,” the sheriff’s office said.

“The defendant then informed the deputy that something was wrong with the drugs he just received and requested the drugs to be tested.”

Investigators say the contents of the bag tested positive for methamphetamine.

Video recorded by a person living in the home showed the man was looking through a window and broke through a screen door to get inside.

When questioned, the suspect “admitted entering the victim’s residence,” officials said.

He was charged with felony burglary of an occupied dwelling, felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and criminal mischief, jail records show.
