Lottery player was ‘nervous for days’ after seeing huge win on scratch-off ticket
A Michigan man was stunned when he saw how much he won on a lottery scratch-off ticket.
The 53-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous when claiming his prize, bought the winning Gold Multiplier Instant Game ticket at a service center in Taylor, according to a news release from the Michigan Lottery.
“I scratched the ticket and saw I matched a number, but I didn’t scratch the winning amount right away,” the man told lottery officials.
The man finished scratching the ticket and that’s when he saw how much he won.
“When I saw a prize of $1 million, my mouth dropped to the ground. I called my son and my fiancé right away to tell them the news,” he said. “Winning is life-changing and one of the best things to ever happen to me. I have been nervous for days and it still doesn’t seem real.”
The man chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 instead of yearly payments for the full prize amount.
He said he plans to help his family with his winnings.
Taylor is in the southwestern Detroit metropolitan area.
