Stranger climbs on woman sunbathing at beach, starts ‘thrusting,’ California cops say
A man was arrested after he was accused of climbing on top of a sunbathing woman at the beach and “thrusting,” California police say.
Following the incident, Alonzo Dickson, 25, was arrested on a felony count of sexual battery, the Santa Monica Police Department said in an Aug. 28 news release.
“It’s horrible for the community,” Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock told FOX 11. “I can’t stop thinking about that girl and how she must feel.”
As a woman sunbathed on the beach a short distance from the Santa Monica Pier the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 27, a man approached, police said.
He then “climbed on top of her and started thrusting against her,” police said.
The woman quickly stood up, while her sister pushed the man away, police said.
As the woman looked for help, the man fled south on the beach, according to police.
Officers searched the area and found a suspect that matched the woman’s description of the man, police said.
The man, Dickson, was identified as the suspect and arrested, according to police.
Dickson, who is being held without bail, is expected to appear in court on Aug. 29, jail records show.
While Dickson has not previously been arrested in California, “he has at least one pending criminal case in Washington,” according to police.
As part of their investigation into the beach incident, police said they are looking into the details of the Washington case.
