Powerball player wins $1 million prize. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball ticket sold in Nebraska won $1 million but missed the $44 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched all five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Aug. 19, the Nebraska Lottery said.
A ticket sold in California hit the $44 million jackpot.
The grand prize now drops to an estimated $20 million, with a cash value of $9.9 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 21, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 1, 2, 15, 23 and 28 with a Powerball of 10, the lottery said. The Power Play was 2.
More than 287,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot had gone unclaimed since Aug. 12, when a Pennsylvania player won the $213.8 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
