Severe storms sent a tree onto a moving car, killing the driver inside, Georgia deputies said.

It happened just before 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, along Vaughn Road in Canton as severe weather moved through the area, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived to find the tree on top of the vehicle, WAGA reported. The 27-year-old driver was declared dead at the scene, deputies said.

Authorities identified him as Levi Benjamin Wilson of Woodstock.

A line of heavy storms pummeled the area Tuesday evening, causing downed trees and power lines that shuttered multiple roads, according to the sheriff’s office.

Additional information wasn’t immediately available.

Canton is about a 40-mile drive north from Atlanta.
