A 1-year-old died after they were found unresponsive in a family pool, Arizona deputies say.

The family was inside their Village of Oak Creek home Saturday, July 27, when they noticed the toddler had been missing for several minutes, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The father went outside and saw “the sliding door to the backyard open,” deputies said.

Shortly after, he found his 1-year-old unresponsive in the pool, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy arrived and performed CPR on the child until firefighters made it to the home.

Firefighters tried to revive the toddler for almost two hours, deputies said.

However, they could not save the toddler, who was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to deputies.

Village of Oak Creek is about a 110-mile drive northeast from Phoenix.
