A car crashed off an ocean cliff along Highway 1 near Devil’s Slide, killing three people inside, the California Highway Patrol told news outlets.

The CHP received reports of the fatal crash between Pacifica and Montara at 11:19 a.m. Friday, July 26, the agency told SF Gate.

The car plunged 300 to 400 feet to the ocean below, KRON reported.

Rescuers found two people dead inside the vehicle and a third on Saturday, July 27, when the car was recovered, KGO reported. The crash closed Highway 1 for several hours.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified the dead as Brylyn Aroma, 36, of Fort Riley, Kansas, and Angelica Gacho, 28, and Mohammad Noory, 29, both of South San Francisco, KTVU reported.

Devil’s Slide is about a 20-mile drive southwest of San Francisco.
