13-year-old girl visiting family dies after falling off golf cart, Utah officials say
A 13-year-old Texas girl died after falling off a golf cart in Utah, officials said.
On July 3, a 12-year-old was driving a golf cart carrying the 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old, according to a July 23 Facebook post by Roosevelt City Police.
The 12-year-old made a “sharp turn,” causing the 13-year-old to fall off, officers said.
Officers didn’t specify the young driver’s relationship to the girl but said the 13-year-old had been visiting family in the area.
She was sent to the Uintah Basin Medical Center before being transported to the Primary Children’s Hospital where she eventually died, officials said.
Roosevelt police said they will be “giving more attention to the issue of unlicensed minors driving golf carts,” adding that parents may be cited if they allow their children to drive the vehicles, according to the release.
Roosevelt is about a 140-mile drive southeast of Salt Lake City.
