Popeyes adds boneless wings — and they’re here to stay. Here’s what to know
Popeyes newest offering is a first for the chicken chain, and it’s here to stay.
Boneless wings landed on menus Tuesday, June 25, at participating Popeyes restaurants nationwide, the fast-food chain said in a news release.
The nugget-like morsels are made with chicken breast meat, then “breaded and fried to crispy perfection,” according to a product description.
Wing lovers can choose from six flavors:
- Original
- Honey lemon pepper
- Signature hot
- Honey BBQ
- Sweet n’ spicy
- Roasted garlic Parmesan
“Our culinary team brought the best flavors from our existing Wing platform to this new Boneless offering to give our guests the best of both worlds,” Jeff Klein, president of Popeyes North America, said in the release.
The launch comes amid a so-called saucy nuggets war as fast-food chains look to take their chicken offerings up a notch. In March, KFC debuted its saucy nuggets, tossed and coated in one of five flavor sauces.
“KFC has never been so finger lickin’ good – literally,” Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer for KFC U.S. said at the time. “We’ve entered the sauce chat.”
Wendy’s entered the fray earlier in June, launching its own line of “saucy nuggs” to rival the competition.
Popeyes new boneless wings are available to order in-store, at the drive-thru and online for pick-up or delivery, according to Popeyes.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
