After 420 days at shelter, pup finds loving home. ‘Overjoyed is an understatement’
The tale of one shelter dog has come to a happy ending after a very long time, an Iowa shelter announced.
Meet Faya, a pup who has called the Humane Society of Scott County her home for 420 long days — almost a year and a half, a June 19 Facebook post announced with glee.
“To say our staff and volunteers were overjoyed is an understatement. We’ve given her so much love and care over the many months she was here and this is the moment we were all waiting for,” the shelter says.
“She finally gets to sleep in a home of her own. We are so incredibly happy for her and her new best friend!”
The good news was heavenly on the ears of those who had followed Faya’s shelter journey for the period she was up for adoption. They flooded the comment section of the gleeful post and photo of Faya’s huge smile and her new forever person.
“I beg your finest pardon! This is absolutely the cutest thing. They have the same smile!! These two were meant for each other,” one person said.
“Look at her beautiful face so happy,” another noted.
“Happy life sweet girl! You are so deserving. I love both of the big smiles in this photo!!!” someone commented.
“Omgggg this is wonderful!! Make sure you send in updates!! Thank youuuuu for adopting!!” one person said.
“I can’t tell who is happier in this photo! Faya or her new dad!” another expressed.
The shelter is in Davenport, which is a 165-mile drive east from Des Moines.
