A 19-year-old woman last seen wading in a river in a video on a recovered phone has been found dead, Utah sheriff’s officials told news outlets.

Two hikers found the unattended phone and a dog along Dry Creek near Horsetail Falls around 3 p.m. Friday, June 7, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Officials said the phone had been set up to record a video.

A video on the phone showed the woman being swept away by the strong current as she walked near the water, officials said.

Searchers found the woman’s body below Horsetail Falls later that night and it was recovered Saturday, June 8, officials told KSL. They returned her dog and belongings to her family.

Officials believe the woman was swept away by the swift, cold current.

The sheriff’s office identified her Monday, June 10, as Cynthia Ann Grimwood, 19, of Springville, Utah.

Horsetail Falls is about 35 miles south from Salt Lake City.
