Officials in Ohio have recovered the body of a diver after he went missing.

The man went missing in Lake Erie on June 1, according to the United States Coast Guard Great Lakes.

The man, later identified as David Michael Vanzandt, went diving to explore a shipwreck at the bottom of the lake, authorities said, according to WEWS. He was down there for more than two hours before help was called.

Search and rescue teams went out to look for Vanzandt, the Coast Guard said on X, formerly known as Twitter. They searched for him 6 miles off of the Cleveland coast.

Several hours after he was reported missing, the Coast Guard reported his body had been recovered.

The Coast Guard initially reported that Vanzandt was 72 years old, but news outlets later reported that the medical examiner listed him as 70 years old.

A cause of death was not released.
