Woman calls 911, says she’s hiding from man who held her captive for weeks, CA cops say
A 29-year-old man was arrested on charges he held a woman captive for weeks, California officials said.
On May 25, the 31-year-old woman called 911 to say she was hiding from a man, later identified as Lorenzo Isaiah Haynes, according to a news release by the San Bernardino San Diego-Chino Hills Police Department.
Haynes had held the woman captive for two weeks and forced her to perform sexual acts, officials said.
Deputies found Haynes’ car and stopped him, officials said. He fled and led cops on a chase.
During the chase, a sheriff’s patrol car was involved in a crash with two motorists, officials said. The deputy involved in the crash was sent to the hospital and was later released.
McClatchy News has asked about the condition of the two motorists, who were not involved in the chase, and is awaiting a response.
Haynes was eventually found in Riverside County and led cops on another chase, south to San Diego County, before his car was disabled, officials said.
Haynes fled the area on foot before eventually being caught and arrested. He was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape, oral copulation by force, pimping, human tracking and resisting an officer resulting in great bodily harm, the release said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 909-364-2000, officials said.
Chino Hills is about a 40-mile drive southeast of Los Angeles.
