Couple in their 100s get married at Pennsylvania nursing home. See them celebrate
A Pennsylvania couple just tied the knot at what may be a new world record for oldest bride and groom, news outlets reported.
Marjorie Fiterman, 102, and Bernie Littman, 100, met at the assisted living facility where they live, according to WTXF.
The two had been dating for nine years, according to the Jerusalem Post.
“Grandpa surprised us all when he said he wanted to get married. We told him we would hold a short Jewish ceremony, but Grandpa insisted on a legal wedding, so they registered for marriage,” Littman’s granddaughter, Sarah Littman, told the news outlet.
The two had their wedding on May 19 at their facility in Philadelphia, the Jewish Chronicle reported.
“Most of the couples I marry these days met on some kind of dating app,” officiant Rabbi Adam Wohlberg told WTXF. “I much prefer the old ways. You live in the same building, you bump into each other, and you fall in love.”
The current world record for the oldest bride and groom to get married is held by U.K. couple Doreen and George Kirby, according to Guinness World Records.
The two had a combined age of 194 years and 279 days when they got married in 2015.
“We submitted a request to Guinness World Records because we think it is a record for wedding age. We are really happy that Grandpa has someone to be with,” Littman’s granddaughter told the Jerusalem Post.
