Elvis was only dog who didn’t find match at adoption event. But his wait is now over
He was the only dog who didn’t get adopted during an adoption event in Illinois, but now Elvis may have finally found his home.
Sixty-one pets, including 22 dogs, were adopted during the Saturday, Nov. 11, event held by The Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. But Elvis, described as a “meatball that has the silliest personality,” stayed at the shelter after not finding a match.
The Anti-Cruelty Society shared a Facebook post Tuesday, Nov. 14, in an attempt to find the 3-year-old dog a home.
“His giant smile lights up every room he enters,” the shelter said. “Elvis is a snuggler so he hopes you are okay giving up your personal space.”
Elvis is potty-trained and crate-trained, but the shelter said he will be prone to arthritis in the future because of a fracture he previously had in his pelvis.
Thousands of people shared the post and hundreds commented hoping Elvis would find his home.
“Elvis will leave the building,” one commenter said. “Make it happen!!”
Finally, it did. The shelter said Thursday that Elvis is pending adoption, and he’s no linger listed on The Anti-Cruelty Society’s website.
“I am thrilled to hear this!” a woman said on Facebook. “I pray him (and) his new owner will be a good fit. I hated to see Elvis left alone after the event.”
“That adorable face,” another commenter said. “Keeping my fingers crossed it works out for him.”
