Baby giraffe bonds with her dad in ‘precious moment’ at Oklahoma zoo, video shows
While the newborn giraffe at an Oklahoma zoo may have a “very independent personality,” she was recently seen bonding with her dad in a “precious moment.”
The Oklahoma City Zoo shared a video of the baby as she looked up at dad. Her father, Demetri, bent down and shared tender, face-to-face time with his daughter.
“Stop scrolling for a moment of ‘aw,’” the zoo said in a Nov. 14 Facebook post.
The baby giraffe was born Oct. 10 to her mom, Julu, the zoo previously announced. She was about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighed about 160 pounds as of Oct. 18.
“Within one hour of birth, she was already standing and nursing, major milestones for a newborn calf,” the zoo said. “Our caretakers shared that this little giraffe is already very curious about her surroundings and has a very independent personality!”
The newborn’s “next milestone” will be making introductions with the rest of the herd in the Giraffe House, according to the Facebook post.
