Sometimes it pays to be online.

An Arkansas woman found out she won a five-figure lottery prize after a friend’s post on social media reminded her to check the winning numbers.

Warren resident Mona Reap bought her winning Quick Pick ticket at a local convenience store, according to a July 27 news release from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

She later saw a friend’s Facebook post applauding the unidentified winner of the $20,000 Mega Millions ticket.

“Man, I wonder if that’s me,” Reap thought to herself after seeing the Facebook status, she told lottery officials. “I checked my tickets that night and was shocked when I came across the winning Mega Millions ticket. I kept thinking I was looking at it wrong!”

When she visited the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery headquarters to claim her prize, she was shocked again.

Reap was aware she’d won more than $500 but had no idea she had secured the $20,000 prize.

She plans to use her winnings to help pay for her mortgage and to finance home improvements, officials said.

Warren is about 90 miles south of Little Rock.
