2-year-old hit, killed after darting in front of car in parking lot, Georgia cops say

A 2-year-old was killed when she was hit by a car on Tybee Island, Georgia state troopers say.

The crash happened about 5:45 p.m. Sunday, May 14, in a parking lot on 15th Street, Georgia State Patrol said in a preliminary report.

The child, identified as Rae’Lynn Michelle Milton of Waycross, was standing with her family near parked cars, investigators say. As a car approached, Rae’lynn darted into its path and was struck, police said.

She was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries, troopers said.

Additional information wasn’t available.

In a statement, Tybee Island police offered their condolences to the girl’s family.

”The thoughts of the men and women of the Tybee Island Police Department will remain with Rae’Lynn’s family and loved ones as they attempt to move forward after this unspeakable tragedy,” the department said on Facebook.

Tybee Island is about 265 miles southeast of Atlanta.
