Amie Sears has read a lot of stories about lottery winners.

“I always said, ‘Why wouldn’t I be able to win one too,’” the 46-year-old from Charlotte told North Carolina Education Lottery officials in an April 11 news release.

Thanks to a recent $5 Cashword Multiplier ticket from Harris Teeter, Sears finally got her own big win, officials said. She won a $150,000 prize.

Sears told officials she finds scratch-off games entertaining.

“It takes time to scratch every little letter,” she said.

Sears collected her prize Monday, April 10, and after taxes, she took home $106,876, according to officials. Now, Sears plans to take her fiance on a trip to Paris.

“Since I was a little kid, I always wanted to go to Paris,” she told lottery officials. “I think my mom instilled it in me.”
