A wellness check led to the discovery of a woman stabbed to death inside an Atlanta-area apartment, Georgia authorities say. Now, her brother is behind bars.

Officers were called just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, for a welfare check at the Point at Perimeter Apartments in Dunwoody, according to the city’s police department.

The 911 caller, who’s a relative of the victim, said the woman had called and said her brother had “just stabbed her,” police said in a news release.

Officers arrived to find the body of a 38-year-old woman and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

Her accused attacker, a 36-year-old man, was found and detained after leading officers on a short foot chase, police said. Authorities haven’t released his name or said what charges he could face.

The incident remains under investigation.

Dunwoody is about 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
