Teen, 16, dies after running red light on motorcycle, NY cops say. ‘So much life ahead’
A 16-year-old died after running a red light on his motorcycle, according to New York police.
Angelo D. Mannino was driving his 2019 Suzuki motorcycle in Salina when he went through a red light on Monday, Oct. 24 at the intersection of Lemoyne Avenue and Factory Avenue, state police said in a news release. His motorcycle collided with a 2008 Buick Lacrosse in the intersection.
After the collision, Angelo was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, about 6 miles south, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Bradon R. Wescott, 14 who, was a passenger on the motorcycle, also was taken to the hospital with severe face and head injuries, according to police. The Buick’s driver, 44-year-old Robert N. Sterling, was taken to Crouse Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The Buick was also carrying two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16, according to police. Neither one was hurt.
Angelo was a “a good kid who was gonna do big things,” one Facebook user wrote in a post.
“You didn’t deserve to be taken from this world. So young and so much life ahead of you. RIP,” another post reads.
Syracuse is about 250 miles northwest of Manhattan.
