Hiker missing for days is found in ‘thick vegetation’ on Arizona mountain, rescuers say

A hiker wandered up an Arizona mountain and vanished for two days, rescuers said.

The man was hiking on Mount Lemmon when he got lost, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue said.

After spending two days on the mountain, rescuers found the hiker Tuesday, Sept. 27.

“The hiker was successfully found in thick vegetation by rescuers with (the Southern Arizona Rescue Association) and Survey 1,” rescuers said on Twitter.

The man was given food and water, and rescuers helped him hike off the mountain.

Mount Lemmon is 9,171 feet tall at its highest point, according to the Arizona Office of Tourism. It’s the tallest peak in the Santa Catalina Mountains.

It is about 45 miles northeast of Tucson.
