Woman dies after 50-foot fall from waterfall, Hawaii rescuers say
A woman who plunged up to 50 feet from an Oahu waterfall died after being airlifted to a hospital, Hawaii rescuers reported.
Rescuers responded to a 911 report of a fallen hiker on the Luakaha Falls Trail at 12:13 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, the Honolulu Fire Department said in a news release.
They took over CPR efforts on an unconscious woman in her 30s from onlookers, rescuers reported.
They carried the woman to a landing zone at the trailhead established by other rescuers and a helicopter took her to a hospital, where she later died, firefighters said.
No one else was injured in the incident, the release said.
In 2017, a 32-year-old Honolulu woman died in a fall at Luakaha Falls, KITV reported.
