A falling tree killed a camper while he was inside of his tent at a Washington national park, officials said.

Thomas Bernier-Villeneuve, 34, died at the Elk Lake campground in Olympic National Park when a tree fell on his tent, the National Park Service said.

Park officials were notified of his death on Aug. 30 through an inReach device a satellite communication device used in remote areas without cellphone service.

A helicopter located the man the next day and recovered his body, officials said.

His body was taken to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
