6-year-old run over by bulldozer in Texas survives. ‘God has big plans for my boy’
Days after Bodie Boring was run over by an 18,000-pound bulldozer, the 6-year-old Texas boy was walking in the hospital.
That “toughness” has been chronicled in numerous Facebook posts from Bodie’s mom, Samantha Boring, who has provided updates as the boy’s condition has improved following the Wednesday, July 27, incident.
Bodie suffered a fractured skull, two bruised lungs, broken pelvis and a brain bleed when he was run over by the bulldozer, according to his mom. The boy was at a job site with his dad when the accident occurred, KBTX reported.
“Bodie told me, ‘Mommy I knew when I saw that blade about to hit me that I was gonna die,’” his mother said in a Facebook post while at a hospital in Temple, about 60 miles west from their hometown of Franklin.
She said she didn’t even know it was possible for anyone to survive such an encounter.
An initial MRI came back normal, Samantha Boring said, but as he showed dizziness and light-headed symptoms, a second test on July 29 showed Bodie had a blood clot on his brain.
That same day, Bodie was walking on his own to the shower. By July 31 — four days after the incident — he was walking down the hospital’s hallway with the use of a walker.
“You may be tough but you aren’t walking 4 days after getting ran over by an 18,000 lb bulldozer tough,” Samantha Boring said.
Making the situation more difficult for Bodie, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Aug. 1. after he was running a fever. But it did not slow down his improvements from the bulldozer incident.
Doctors were able to stabilize Bodie’s brain bleed and make the sure the clot had not moved. His mom said Bodie would be moved out of the ICU on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
“God has big plans for my boy & I can’t wait to see what mountains he will move!” she said.
Thursday, Samantha Boring shared a video of Bodie all smiles as he walked on his own in his hospital room.
“I have never seen anything like it before in my life,” she previously said. “Strongest, toughest 6 year old I have ever seen.”
