A 3-year-old boy died on Tuesday, July 19, after he fell from a window of an 18th-floor apartment, Chicago police say.

Police said the boy, identified by WGN as Chaise Binion, fell through a screen window around 7 p.m. He landed on a third-story parking garage, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The child was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he died, police said.

Residents of the Lake View Towers apartment complex told WLS that windows of the apartments open to the inside, “but a small child might be able to crawl” into the space.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
