Rescuers rushed to help a fisherman who fell 40 feet from an Oregon cliff.

The man was fishing near Otter Rock south of Depoe Bay on Saturday, July 9, when he fell from a cliff, Depoe Bay Fire Chief Bryan Daniels said in a video posted to Facebook.

Officials from several agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, rushed to help the man. He broke a leg when he fell from the cliff, Daniels said.

The man was hoisted into a helicopter and flown to an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital. Daniels said the man would likely be “a trauma system entry.”

Daniels said the area is “very rugged terrain,” and crews would hoist themselves and their gear off the cliff.

“There are several signs in this area that say, ‘Stay away from the cliff edge,’” Daniels said in the video. “This is why.”

Rescuers did not disclose the man’s name.
