Officer masturbates in front of family that called for help, California officials say
A San Jose police officer called to a family’s home for a disturbance exposed himself and masturbated in front of a father, mother and daughter, California prosecutors reported.
Officer Matthew Dominguez, 32, a four-year veteran of the San Jose Police Department, faces a charge of indecent exposure, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. He is on administrative leave.
“Law enforcement officers respond to our homes to help crime victims, not terrorize, traumatize, and create new victims,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement. He called the incident “beyond disturbing.”
Dominguez responded with two other officers to an April 21 report of a disturbance at the home, the release said. After learning the family member responsible for the domestic violence call had left, he sent the other two officers to find him.
Dominguez unzipped his pants and fondled himself in front of the family’s 23-year-old daughter, then exposed himself to her mother, documents obtained by SFGate reported. They told the father, who spotted Dominguez masturbating in the kitchen, prosecutors said.
If convicted, Dominguez could face up a year in jail and 10 years on a sexual offender list, prosecutors said.
Officials ask that anyone with information contact investigator Christina Hanks at 408-792-2851.
