Police rescued a dog drowning in a river after it got trapped under a bridge in Colorado.

Officers responded to calls that a dog was drowning near the riverwalk in Pueblo, a city about 115 miles south of Denver, on April 21, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Once they arrived, one of the officers had to use a ladder to reach the dog and retrieve it from the river, according to authorities.

The animal was not wearing a collar when it was found, so it was taken to the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region in Pueblo, an officer told McClatchy News on April 22.

Hours later, the dog owner came to the shelter to pick up his dog, police said.

Police did not share if the dog had been missing or ran away, but an officer said that “the dog is happy and the owner is happy to be together.”

“No job is too big...no pup is too small…PAW Patrol we’re on a roll,” one person commented on the police’s Facebook post.
