Robbers ram woman desperately fleeing jewelry heist, California video shows

A woman fleeing robbers dashes down a Los Angeles street before a pursuing Dodge Challenger slams into her, throwing her up in the air, a video shows.

The woman tries to climb to her feet but stumbles back down to the pavement as the pursuers leap out of their car and rob her before driving away, the video released by Los Angeles police shows.

The wild robbery took place at about noon Monday, April 11, at Eighth Street and Francisco Street, police said in a news release.

The robbers had followed the woman after she left a jewelry store, police said. One jumped out of the Dodge Challenger and smashed her driver’s side window as she stopped in traffic.

The woman tried to drive off but heavy traffic prevented her from getting away from them, police said.

She got out of her vehicle and dashed away with the Dodge Challenger in pursuit, police said.

In the video, the woman is seen seeking help from a passing car on Eighth Street, but the other driver pulls away. The Dodge Challenger speeds up and strikes the woman.

After coming to a rest, the woman stripped off her watch and threw it into the street, police said. The robbers snatched up the watch and fled in their car, while a bystander rushed over to help the woman out of the street.

The woman was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

Police ask anyone with information to call detectives at 213-486-6840 or leave an anonymous tip at 800-222-8477.
