Ever seen a house with a Tesla roof? Jazzy farmhouse has that and more in California
Sure, you most likely have been stuck behind one as you come to a standstill in Los Angeles traffic on a weekday morning, but have you ever raised your eyes to someone’s roof as they say, “it’s a Tesla”?
Welcome to the new look of solar power.
A brand-new, 7,521-square-foot farmhouse on the real estate market in Santa Barbara, California, for $9.95 million is not only turning heads thanks to its newfangled charm, but also because the entire home uses clean energy thanks to its Tesla solar roof.
But, of course, there’s more to the five-bedroom, six-bathroom estate — a whole lot more.
“The contemporary new construction has all the bells and whistles, including floor-to-ceiling windows, sliding doors, hardwood floors, five fireplaces and one of the first Tesla solar roofs in Santa Barbara,” listing agent Eric Haskell told Mansion Global. “It has created a lot of excitement from people driving by.”
Other features on property include:
Chef’s kitchen
Guest house
Pool and spa
Multiple lounging areas
Wet bar
Library
Tesla, most known for its expensive cars, purchased SolarCity in 2016 and is currently “one of the largest solar installers” in the country. And, believe it or not, they’re also the one of the cheapest, CNet says — at least when it comes to standard solar panels. The full solar roof, however, will cost a bit more for its seamless look.
“When you order a Tesla Solar Roof, you aren’t getting solar panels to cover your roof, you’re getting a new roof made up of regular and photovoltaic shingles,” CNet reports. “The result is a covering that powers your house and keeps you dry all while looking like a normal roof to the average passerby.”
Eric Haskell with The Agency holds the listing.
