A seven-story, landlocked lighthouse is now a cool vacation rental on Vrbo, located on 50 acres in Rock Lake, Minnesota. And while the three-bedroom, three-bathroom property sits near an 11-acre lake, it won’t be guiding sailors away from a rocky shore anytime soon.

The 2,000-square-foot rental, which costs $300 a night, can comfortably sleep 12 with its five beds, kitchen, deck and dining area. Guests can take in the enchanting views in “the crow’s nest,” which is over 50 feet high, allowing people to see over the treetops, the Vrbo listing says.

Guests have private access to the lake and can enjoy a day of fun in the water thanks to the hosts, who will provide a variety of boats for play.

The rental is the brainchild of Dean and Donna Lange, who are the hosts. They began building it during the start of the pandemic with the help of their children, WCCO reported.

“A lot of carpenters and people that work with wood look around at the beams and are kind of in awe of how we got it done,” Dean Lange said to WCCO.

Their son Sam and daughter Kendra aided him with the construction.

“I didn’t think it was going to be anything like this when it was done. But it turned out really good,” Sam told WCCO.

“Fantastic stay, so unique!” one person commented. “We loved to have the 5th floor table to play games and color. Tried out our telescope on the 6th floor too. The loft area was a comfortable place to hang out and watch some Netflix. Kitchen has full appliances and (well) stocked cabinets with everything we could possibly need.”

“Extremely beautiful lighthouse,” another said. “Wife and I hands down had a great and relaxing time. Stayed in the winter and when snowing it seems like we’re in a snow globe. It’s one of those places (we) will be talking about for years!!!!”
