Dog attack sends UPS driver to the hospital in Mississippi, officials say
A dog attack sent a UPS driver to the hospital with serious injuries, Mississippi officials said.
The man may have been delivering packages when he was mauled on Friday, March 11, Joseph Barlow, director of the Jackson County Animal Shelter, told McClatchy News in a phone interview.
He said the UPS driver was “in and out of consciousness” with “substantial” injuries that officials think came from at least one dog. The man was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition as of March 14.
Officials said the incident was reported at about 11:40 a.m. in Escatawpa, near the coast and roughly 180 miles southeast of the state capital of Jackson.
An electric worker was near a home in the area when he stumbled upon the attack and called 911, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell told WLOX.
Three dogs were taken into custody, though Barlow said he couldn’t comment on whether those same animals were involved in the attack.
The case was still under investigation as of March 14.
