Kids find human remains in woods, Tennessee cops say. Now there’s an investigation
Children were playing when they stumbled upon human remains in the Tennessee woods, news outlets reported.
The group of kids made the discovery near a cave on Sunday, March 6, according to WSMV and WTVF reporter Nick Beres.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office told news outlets the remains were found in the woods behind homes. Officials were searching an area off Trent Place, roughly 30 miles northwest of Nashville and in Pleasant View.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told McClatchy News in an email that it was helping the Pleasant View Police Department investigate after remains of an adult male were discovered.
Diane McPherson, a neighbor, said the incident was unsettling and remembered her dog acting strangely a few nights before the discovery, WKRN reported.
“About 1 o’clock in the morning he just started barking and going crazy and so I opened the door and he just took off and it took me a while to get him back in the house,” McPherson told the TV station.
An autopsy was ordered to determine the deceased person’s identity, officials said.
