Man pulls knife on restaurant worker after being asked for vaccine card, WA cops say
A man pulled a butcher knife on a Washington restaurant worker after he was told to leave for not being able to show a COVID-19 vaccination card, police said.
The man tried to use a restaurant bathroom in Bellevue on Feb. 5, police said.
He didn’t have a vaccination card so employees told him to leave the business, police said.
Then police said he sat on a bench near the restaurant’s front door.
When an employee told him to leave the business, he pulled out a 6 to 8 inch butcher knife, police said.
He “lunged” at the employee while waving the blade over his head and screaming, police said.
Police said the worker closed the front door and the man left the property.
He was located by police dogs and arrested.
People 12 and older may be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test “to enter certain indoor and outdoor events and establishments” in King County, according to the county’s website.
Bellevue is about 10 miles east of Seattle.
