How are people reacting to the new Facebook layout? Well, they don’t ‘love’ it

Facebook is overhauling its classic layout and moving all users to a new interface in September. Some accounts have already switched and users aren’t exactly thrilled about the new look.

The social media giant unveiled the redesign last year, Endgaget reported.

The new layout has been the default look since May, but Facebook users have been able to opt-out and switch back to the classic layout, according to the outlet. Come September, the classic layout will make its exit for good.

Facebook’s new layout features more white space, and emphasizes the platform’s Groups feature and makes the Watch, Marketplace, and Gaming sections easier to find in the top navigation bar, The Verge reported. It also has dark mode, which lets you change the white space to shades of gray and black to reduce glare when you’re on the site in a dark room, according to the outlet.

Endgaget and The Verge called the changes “long overdue” and “much needed,” but for some Facebook users, newer isn’t exactly better.

User response to the new layout appears to be overwhelmingly negative, with many pointing out the interface’s similarities to Twitter. Others have taken shots at the desktop layout’s resemblance to the mobile version, and some have threatened to dump Facebook altogether.

Here are some of the most hilarious — and scathing — reactions to the new layout posted to Twitter:
