Did you miss that bright comet dazzling the night sky? Watch it zoom across the US
A recently discovered bright comet zipped across the U.S. sky, giving astronomers and stargazers nationwide an amazing view.
Some space experts say the NEOWISE comet is one of the brightest comets to light up the sky in recent years, McClatchy News reported.
The comet zoomed over major U.S. landmarks the past few days like the Chicago skyline, the streets of New York City, Joshua Tree National Park and the Washington Monument, photos and videos on social media show.
NEOWISE has been visible for some time now, but the comet reached its peak Sunday, McClatchy News reported. If you missed it, you still have some time to see NEOWISE. It will continue to fade and won’t be visible to the naked eye come August.
“For the northern hemisphere, it’s very low to the horizon in the early morning,” Karl Battams, an astrophysicist with the Naval Research Laboratory, told CNN. “People need to get up early, but it’s easily visible with binoculars.”
These stargazers across America were able to capture the unusually bright comet over their cities.
