Mom kills husband along interstate, Nebraska cops say. Their kids were in the back seat

A woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly shot and killed her husband in a pickup truck with their children in the back seat, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

The shooting occurred around 3:13 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 80 near Cozad, which is around 175 miles west of Lincoln, the state patrol said.

Kathleen Jourdan, 31, called 911 to report the shooting. She said she and her husband were involved in an argument while traveling on the interstate and he pulled to the side of the road, police said.

The Omaha mother grabbed a gun from the center console and shot her husband, 35-year-old Joshua Jordan, twice in the chest, according to state patrol and KTIC.

The couple’s two children were in the back seat and were uninjured, according to state patrol. Their ages were not specified.

When police arrived, officers found the mother still at the scene and the father dead in the driver’s seat, police said.

Kathleen Jourdan was charged with second-degree murder and placed in the Dawson County Jail, state patrol said. She is a resident physician at University of Nebraska Medical Center, KTIC reported.

The children were placed in protective custody, according to the state patrol.
