Drunk man angry over karaoke song choice pulls out gun at bar, Indiana cops say

A man wielded a gun at an Indiana bar after becoming upset over another customer’s karaoke song choice, according to police.

Jason Allen Huff, 34, was charged with felony intimidation following the incident Wednesday at Leroy’s Hot Stuff Bar, the Porter Police Department said. Porter is in northern Indiana between South Bend and Chicago.

After getting upset about a woman’s karaoke song, Huff got up “in an attempt to go after the singer,” the bartender told police, according to an arrest report. Huff fell down and he became combative when patrons tried to help him, police said.

Huff put a female in a physical arm restraint, then removed a gun from his waistband, the arrest citation states. He walked through the bar with the gun until his cousin took it from him before police arrived, according to the arrest report.

Police said Huff put his cousin and the bartender “in fear for their lives with his actions.”

Huff’s cousin said she took him to the bar so he could enjoy himself because he “is going through a hard time dealing with family issues and PTSD from the Marine Corps,” the arrest citation states.

An officer found Huff and his cousin in a vehicle outside the bar, according to police. The woman complied with the officer’s orders to get on the ground, but Huff “just stared” at the officer who was making loud commands, an arrest citation states.

“Huff was so intoxicated it was difficult to communicate with him,” police said. “He would only keep repeating, ‘have fun’ and ‘you good?’”

Huff was eventually detained and transported to a hospital due to how drunk he was, according to police. He was ultimately cleared and transported to Porter County Jail.

Records show Huff remained in the jail Friday afternoon.

It wasn’t clear what song Huff was allegedly enraged over. He did not give an explanation to police about his actions, the arrest citation states.
