Officer who responded to emergency call was off-duty — and drunk, Indiana cops say

An off-duty police officer in Indiana was arrested Friday evening after a colleague suspected the officer responded to an emergency call while drunk, police say.

Patrick Tucker, 33, was off duty when he was called to the scene of an emergency situation in Plainfield, WISH reported. When he arrived, another officer determined Tucker showed signs of being drunk, according to the outlet.

Tucker was removed from the scene and arrested before taking a breathalyzer test, the Indianapolis Star reported. He’s charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, according to WTHR.

He was released on bond Saturday, the outlet reported.

“The actions of this officer are unacceptable,” Police Chief Jared McKee said, according to WXIN. “The Plainfield Police Department refuses to compromise the quality of service we provide to the community and will continue to hold our officers accountable and to a higher standard.”

Tucker, who’s been with the department since 2017, was placed on unpaid administrative leave and his termination was recommended to the commissioner board, the Star reported.
