Burglar slips on ice with a TV and breaks his leg during getaway, Nebraska police say

A burglar slipped on ice and broke his leg outside an apartment while carrying a stolen TV, Nebraska police say.

An 18-year-old woman was at home Tuesday afternoon when she looked outside to see a burglar who was carrying her TV had fallen on the sidewalk, KLKN reported. The woman also saw a woman wearing her hat, the Lincoln TV station reported.

Before police could arrive, the burglars got in a truck and drove away, KLKN reported.

They had stolen about $2,200 in items from the woman’s apartment, including TVs, a phone, a wallet with $100 bills, shoes, a DVD player and a debit card, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

The woman told investigators she knew the man, the newspaper reported.

Police caught up to the suspects at the hospital when medical staff informed officers that the duo arrived for treatment on the broken leg, KOLN reported.

Sherry L. Gomez was charged with burglary, KOLN reported. The man won’t be charged until he’s released from the hospital, KOLN reported. His identity wasn’t released.
