California robber grabs cash from register — then unleashes pepper spray, video shows

Northern California police released surveillance camera footage on Wednesday that captures a brutal attack on a convenience store clerk earlier this week.

An armed robber walked into the store in Benicia on Sunday around 8 p.m. and grabbed cash from the register by the fistful after pointing a black firearm at the clerk, the Benicia Police Department said in a Facebook post sharing surveillance camera footage of the robbery.

After taking the money, the robber pointed pepper mace at the clerk and sprayed it, video shows.

“Help us find this suspect who not only took what did not belong to him, but also harmed an innocent person in the process,” Benicia police said. “If you have any information regarding the case, please call us at 707-745-3411 and ask for an officer.”

CBS SF identified the store as a Fast Mart.
