Elementary school cafeteria worker who was kidnapped on the job is safe, MO cops say

Illinois police located a woman who kidnapped from her job in Missouri by her ex-boyfriend, police said in a news release.

The abduction occurred about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday outside of Long Elementary School in the 9000 block of Sappington Road in Crestwood, Mo., police Chief Ron Compton said.

When police arrived at the school, they learned the victim was a cafeteria worker who was “confronted at the school by an ex-boyfriend and forced inside the victim’s car, which then left the area,” police said.

There were no students outside when the abduction took place, police said, but officers remained at the school in “an abundance of caution, and in case the suspect returned.”

Through the course of an investigation, police said they believed the victim and suspect were in Glen Carbon, Illinois, near a trailer park, police said. They notified Glen Carbon police, who located the victim and the suspect and arrested him.

Crestwood detectives said the case would be presented to the St. Louis, Mo., County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the release said.
