Mom angry over son’s haircut confronts barber — then runs him over, California cops say
A 28-year-old Northern California mom, angry over her son’s haircut, ran over an Antioch barber in her Toyota Prius on Dec. 4, police say.
The impact hurled the 63-year-old man through his shop’s storefront windows, which the Prius also struck, Antioch police wrote on Facebook. He suffered major injuries.
Ruby Delgadillo of Brentwood, California, turned herself in to police Wednesday in the 3:45 p.m. incident, The San Francico Chronicle reported.
The confrontation over her son’s haircut began inside the shop in the 1600 block of A Street in Antioch, a city of about 112,000 people on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta east of San Francisco Bay, KRON reported.
The argument moved outside, where Delgadillo slammed her Prius into the barber before driving away with her son, police say.
“I saw the car taking off, backing out and then taking off real fast. The owner of the barber shop was already laying down inside,” said witness James Nguyen, KPIX reported.
Police asked that anyone with information on the incident call 911 or police at (925) 778-2441. Tips also can be texted to 274637 with the keyword “ANTIOCH.”
