Detroit eviction officers find woman’s body in freezer

DETROIT – A woman’s frozen body has been found inside a freezer at a vacant apartment on Detroit’s east side.

Detroit police officer Jennifer Moreno says 36th District Court officers found the body during an eviction about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Moreno says the officers found the body in the freezer and that the woman appeared to have suffered some trauma. She didn’t elaborate.

The woman was somewhere between 45 and 50 years old, but hasn’t been identified. An autopsy will be performed by the Wayne County medical examiner’s office.

The home is in the Martin Luther King Apartments just east of downtown. No one appeared to be living in the unit where the body was found.

Several dozen people were arrested during a 2013 police raid at the apartment complex.
