New fuzz: Cuddly rabbit joins NYPD’s mounted patrol
Saddle up, little buddy.
Or not.
After an adorable white cottontail rabbit wandered into the training facility for the NYPD’s mounted unit on Friday, Special Ops decided to keep him around.
Meet the newest “member” of the mounted unit.
Meet the #Mounted Unit's newest member who wandered onto the training rink yesterday in the Bronx. We need help naming him though. Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/OM5U2O0ONs

The public came up with a flood of suggested names for the little guy.
Officer Hopps.
Commissioner Cottontail.
Officer Bunny Paws.
Fuzz.
All good. But in the end, his black-ringed eyes and that scofflaw look in them decided it.
His name is Bandit.
Don’t get your “hops” up. Bandit won’t be helping his new equine colleagues corral crowds at the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.
He is actually the second rabbit to ever join the NYPD’s mounted unit, according to the This is New York blog.
The unit’s other honorary member has an equally fitting name.
She’s called Miss Demeanor.
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. The #Mounted Unit has gone w/ "Bandit" for their newest addition. Seen here with "Miss Demeanor" pic.twitter.com/YceVf7Ni0N
