No one can accuse Douglas Martin — aka “FaZe Censor — of not being laser-focused.
People can call him lots of things, and boy have they over the last few days, some in Spanish. But unfocused is not one of them.
The professional “Call of Duty” player has dumped his celebrity girlfriend — 26-year-old “sexiest weather girl on the planet” Yanet Garcia — the only girlfriend he’s ever had, so he can concentrate on winning a “Call of Duty” championship.
He had to “pick his poison,” the 23-year-old gamer explained in a 10-minute YouTube confessional he posted over the weekend for his 2.5 million followers.
The day before Martin posted the video, which has garnered more than 20,000 comments so far, Garcia hinted at the break-up on Twitter with one word and two emojis: a sad face and broken heart.
They were a made-for-the-movies couple — the beauty and the nerd.
Garcia has made her name by wearing sexy clothing while presenting the weather and showcasing her rear view on social media. Her Instagram, followed by 6.5 million, is populated with photos of her most famous asset.
In his YouTube video, watched nearly 1 million times since Saturday, Martin began by exhaling hard and saying straight up that he and Garcia “are no longer in a relationship with each other anymore.”
He said she is “one of the most beautiful women in the world” and called her smart and loyal.
“She was an awesome, awesome, awesome girlfriend, guys, and I know it sounds weird that I’m saying all this, but then I decided that i just don’t want to be in a relationship with her any more,” he said. “I gotta do what’s right (for) me.”
He said they began seeing each other three years ago and had moved into a New York City apartment together, where they lived for a year and a half. Then he bought a house.
Other than two girlfriends he had for a hot minute in middle school, and who both dumped him, Garcia was his first girlfriend, he said.
“I went throughout my entire life literally just playing ‘Call of Duty’ every single day, and just practicing and winning in these tournaments and then getting into YouTube,” he said.
But everything started to change, he said, “once she decided to take her job offer in Mexico City” in March.
He said he supports what she wants to do with her life — become an actress and supermodel — and that he wants to be an actor, too, and win that elusive “Call of Duty” championship.
He’s been struggling this year, according to Fox News, which reports that Martin missed out on the first stage of the “Call of Duty” World league, then signed up with a different team.
He made it clear to her, he said, that he’d be playing “every single night from like 7 p.m., sometimes till 5 a.m.”
“It’s not like I don’t want to do this,” he said. “This is what I signed up for, this is what I want. This is the career that I want. i wanna win a ring. I wanna win a world championship.”
He thought they could make a long-distance relationship work. But things got difficult.
“Obviously I want to settle down and have babies in the future. But for now what I want in my life, at this very moment, is to compete in ‘Call of Duty’ because I love it so much. I really love competing — and I’m going to do whatever it takes to be a champion. So I’ll play nonstop.”
He said he has a lot going on his life — working out, being on YouTube, gaming, taking care of two dogs and house renovations.
“And then also managing a girlfriend,” he said. “It’s like I had to pick my poison of what i wanted to spend my time and focus on. There’s only 24 hours in a day and i just didn’t have enough time to do everything I needed to do.
“I just feel like at this time i don’t have time for a girlfriend. i have to focus on myself, I have to focus on what I’m doing as a career. And i just don’t feel i can give her enough attention that she wants and that she needs. Because girls need attention, girls need love and I’m like naturally a cold guy. Like, I’m naturally a guy who just focuses on a goal and that’s it.
“I’m so focused on ‘Call of Duty’ that I can’t give her attention and I can’t give her the attention that she wants.”
In a burst of self-awareness, Martin said he knows that people will “roast” him for breaking up with a supermodel.
He was right.
“The world is coming to an end,” wrote one guy in the YouTube comments. “Nerds are dumping perfect ten models for games. “
“If it were for Fortnite then maybe,” wrote another.
The comments are a bit more viscous on Garcia’s Instagram page.
“Hope you’ll find someone who doesn’t leave you for a good damn game.”
“My brother. I know you’re a gamer but @faze_censor has to be the dumbest man that ever lived.”
The court of opinion, however, is mixed.
“Sweet man, go for it, girls come and go.,” wrote one guy on Martin’s YouTube video.
“People are gonna hate bro but you have to do you and Yanet has to do her own thing as well. Like you said life is too short so do the things you want to do.,” wrote another guy.
On Monday, Garcia posted a new sexy photo of her bum on Instagram.
